CHILDREN from 10 Whitby Primary Schools gathered at Whitby Community College on Wednesday night to take part in the annual Ryedale and Whitby school sport partnership high 5 netball tournament.
The schools represented were Airy Hill, Lythe, Egton, Ruswarp, Hawsker, West Cliff, Danby, East Whitby, Goathland and Lealholm.

Students from Whitby Community College helped to run the event by helping to manage the teams and carrying out of the umpiring, they were praised for their consistency and enthusiasm, a real credit to the college.

The children battled it out in the group stages, all giving their all and representing their schools well.

The team from Egton eventually came first overall with 12 points, winning all of their matches, East Whitby were closely behind with 11 points, followed by Hawsker with 10.

All the teams did exceptionally well with the scores being very close right across the board.

Egton, East Whitby and Hawsker have now been invited to represent the Whitby cluster at the partnership final being held today at Whitby Community College, where they will face the top teams from the Ryedale area, best of luck to all of them.

Many thanks to all who took part and helped to make it an enjoyable evening and also thanks to Whitby Community College for hosting the event.
