AISLABY motor racer Edwin Jowsey claimed his sixth consecutive win of the season at a drenched Brands Hatch.
The circuit, approximately 15-20 miles outside London, is old and technically difficult as it has lots of bends and inclines.
The track was formerly used for F1 racing, believed up until 1988 and it is also the number one track for motor GP (racing bikes).
Edwin was driving the FJ classic car which is similar to the cars which world champions such as Jim Clarke and Sir Jackie Stewart drove.
The track was made difficult for the official practice time as it rained continuously throughout the morning.
Although Edwin had never raced at Brands Hatch before, he gained the fastest lap time which gave him pole position for the afternoon's race.
The rain failed to ease for the start of the race which did not begin well for Edwin – another competitor drove too fast into the first bend and touched wheels with Edwin's car to send them both into the gravel.
This meant Edwin had to start from seventh place and he had a lot of catching up to do in tremendously difficult conditions.
He managed to work his way though from seventh, working through all the obstructing spray to get the lead back.
Once he was in the lead he was back out in front on his own.
Looking on from the pit straight, Edwin was well out on his own for the last five laps.
Edwin took the chequered flag, the sixth win out of six this year.
Special thanks to Cephas Thorpe chief mechanic Matthew Trousdale and sponsorship manager Nick Henderson.
