SLEIGHTS Bowling Club had mixed fortunes in three recent friendly matches, beating Great Ayton and Guisborough Priory Park, then just losing by one shot at Kirkbymoorside.
The club also played its annual triples knockout competition, where the 14 teams were drawn at random, with three woods each person over 11 ends.
The semi finalists were, Colin Gray with Freda Lawson and Chrissie Cowen against Ian Harrison with David Marshall and Betty McLean.
Harrison's team went into the last end one shot up but Gray's team got two to go through into the final to meet Terry Bogg with Colin Lonsdale and Dennis Metcalfe, who had beaten Mike Harper with Alan Rutland and Annette Fletcher in another hard fought game.
The final between Gray, Lawson and Cowen and Bogg, Lonsdale and Metcalfe was excellent and entertaining right up to the last shot when it could have gone either way.
