Sleights Bowling Club played three friendly matches, losing against Ayton but beating Loftus and Thornton Dale.
Finally, they played the third round match in the 16-man team Marshall Shield, at home against the star-studded Nafferton.
Sleights put up a wonderful fight but finally lost by only 17 shots against this array of national and county players – and
the large number of onlookers were treated to an evening of high class bowling. The score was 79-62 to Nafferton.

Sleights beat Thornton Dale away 41-37: O Tordoff, E Clark, C Shardlow won 10-9, D Marshall, R Clark, H Brown won 12-8,T Reid, P Shardlow, B McLean won 12-4, J Rudsdale, I Pearson, P Rudsdale lost 7-16.
More recently, Sleights played friendly matches against Filey and Snainton, losing both.
While the Scarborough District Veterans’ League First Division is now halfway through and the Sleights blue team is in third place behind Flamborough and Scarborough A, the red team is fourth with a game in hand.
