And Sleights Singers are set to celebrate their centenary anniversary with some special events planned in the next few weeks.

The Singers are the oldest and only remaining mixed voice choir in the district.

They formed in 1908 from the Sleights and Grosmont Glee Club and had their first meeting as Sleights Choral Society on 16 October in Sleights Schoolroom directly across the road from where they now rehearse at Sleights' Church House.
The choir rehearses every Thursday at 7.15pm until 9pm and are always pleased to welcome new members who are willing to make a weekly commitment.
Tonight, Sleights Singers will celebrate the combined anniversaries in the village in the village hall at 7pm.
This will be a musical celebration also starring the children of Sleights Primary School.
