THE chairman, Miss J Fairey welcomed members to the April meeting. Mrs B Proctor read the minutes from the last meeting and the treasurer's report was given.
The annual dinner was held at The Stables, Cross Butts and this was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Items of interest were read from the group newsletter, these included lunch at Kirby Misperton on 3 June with guest speaker Chris Foote Wood, gardening summer school at the plant centre, Castle Howard on 20 May and Scarborough area lunch at the Royal Hotel, Scarborough on 29 April.
Two new members joined, Mrs C Jameson and Mrs M Judson. Members were reminded of the fish and chip and bingo charity evening, the beneficiaries will be Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Whitby Talking Newspaper.
The guest speakers were Viv and Vernon Smith, owners of Elizabeth the steam bus. Vernon gave a talk on the trials and tribulations of running the steam bus. He was thanked by Mrs B Walker.
The winner of the competition was Mrs M Judson and the raffle by Mrs B Proctor.
Names were taken for the mystery trip and carvery on Tuesday 5 May.
A faith supper followed.
